Pr. Johan Berg, St. Philip, Mt. Dora, recently published a book via Kindle Publishing, available at Amazon.com (e-book or paperback) entitled The Five Marks of Missional Leaders Toolbox 1.0. (subtitle: Clear Eyed and Strong Hearted. Together. Following. Jesus. For the Sake of the World). Another subtitle: Do Not Open Alone (a connection to how a person/reader can engage an accountability partner in their professional development. It could be a Coach, but it doesn’t have to be. Just somebody who will come alongside the leader to help them accomplish what they intend to accomplish and what God is calling them to be!)
The book is a culmination of a couple years work, it has professional development for leaders, rostered and lay, at its heart, and is meant to be a work that sparks further Toolbox editions that are built on collaboration with other leaders who have good tools to offer up.
About the Book
Leaders in the mission of God need to be able to engage the challenges of a changing environment, internal organizations dynamics and external cultural and societal forces. They need tools. And they need a way to find accountability and support along the journey. The Five Marks of a Missional Leader Toolbox 1.0 comes from the heart and experience of the author who has been doing church congregational mission work as a pastor for over 30 years, learning mission development on the fly over these years and now sharing what he has found to be key tools for the journey. Building tools in each of the identified 5 key competency and content areas for a strong missional leader today, the Toolbox 1.0 can provide needed resources and direction for today’s lay and professional leaders to develop their expertise. The “accountability and support” piece comes in strategic direction for how and why for today’s leaders to engage a coach to walk alongside them to maximize their learning and growth. Find this all in the Toolbox 1.0! And then, too, see how you can help contribute to a Toolbox 2.0 down the road! Let’s build strong leaders together!
