Director of Music
Grace Lutheran Church, Ormond Beach

Grace is looking for a Director of Music who would be responsible for all aspects of the music program. We are a congregation with a long-standing appreciation of contemporary and traditional liturgical music. We have a modest music program that currently consists of a  senior choir and a handbell choir. The successful candidate would have knowledge of music in a Christian and/or secular setting, and an understanding of Lutheran liturgy and choral directing. We currently have one service at 10:00am on Sundays, as well as special services during the various liturgical seasons of the year. Responsibility to play for funerals and weddings, if available, for additional compensation.

Instruments: Zimmer Opus 20 Digital 3 manual organ, Baby Grand Kawaii Piano, Upright Yamaha Piano, Handbells and Chimes(3 octaves) Bongo & Conga Drums.

Salary: The position is part time, approximately $20,000-$24,000 annually(commensurate with degree and experience), some benefits, free use of church facilities and instruments for teaching private lessons.

Coordinator of Discipleship and Congregational Care

General Description: This is a 40 hour a week, full-time ministry position supporting the vision, mission, staff and congregation of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. This role is for someone willing to encourage and recruit volunteers, develop small groups, facilitate caregiving in our congregation, delegate responsibilities to PoP leaders and serve as a team builder.

Skills: We are looking for a candidate with administrative, organizational and church leadership skills to oversee and help plan congregational events, ongoing and new mission initiatives, to encourage small group development, inspire the use of spiritual gifts among the congregation and help execute the congregation’s recently developed Vision 2020+ plan.

Duties include:

  • Work with PoP Commissions and other teams to develop and coordinate opportunities to embrace visitors and new members into the life of the congregation.
  • Recruit and help train leaders, provide resources and coordinate with staff to develop, implement and expand our Small Group Ministry.
  • Assess the congregation’s skills, gifts, abilities and interests for serving in PoP ministries through Equipping the Saints, Lifekeys, Time and Talent Surveys and other means.
  • Oversee our Samaritan Caregiving Ministry. Facilitate caregivers by matching them with those in need. Provide training, make calls and introductions. Organize workshops.
  • Provide assistance for PoP members who need help in the home or transition to ALF’s, nursing homes etc. Work with families who are exploring an ALF, nursing facility or other community resources. Help with member transportation needs. Facilitate home/rehab visits after hospital stays.  Visit with new mothers/infants. Call or write notes to ill PoP members.
  • Coordinate congregational leaders who are responsible for church events, such as Wednesday’s Together, the Health and Safety Fair, Go and Do Likewise Weekend, the Largo Stroll and other special activities.
  • Meet weekly with Pastors and staff to help coordinate and manage PoP activities.

SUMMARY: We are looking for a Christ-centered disciple with a vibrant, positive personality. We want someone with charisma who can excite others about PoP ministries and rally the resources of our congregation to do the Lord’s work. The ideal candidate is skilled at delegating, encouraging, and facilitating congregational ministries. This person will nurture the discipleship of the congregation, marshal our God-given resources to serve others and help carry out our mission to live and share the good news of God’s love as followers of Jesus Christ.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS: College Degree preferred or equivalent experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, competency with computers, digital media, and social media.

Minister of Music

We are a Reconciling in Christ congregation whose purpose is to Boldly share God’s love and grace in our community and in the world. We are seeking a qualified candidate who feels called to engage with us in our purpose and lead and grow our music program. Currently there are 100+ regular worshipping members with Sunday worship at 9:30 a.m. Our worshipping community is intergenerational and we have a growing population of children and youth. The Minister of Music will serve by leading worship on Sundays, at special services, and will direct choirs and music ministry groups including adult, children, and bells. Office and Social Media Ministry Assistant

*This staff person will work with the pastor and leadership team.  Duties Include:

 Administrative Social Media/Marketing

  • Update website weekly with pictures, information, events and invites, ministry pages; Update Face Book, Twitter, Snap Chat and other social media.
  • Create monthly newsletter utilizing HTML; Create/order posters, postcards, brochures as needed for marketing, as well as other computer tasks utilizing Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Publisher.,
  • Answer phone, maintain message log; Check mail and distribute to respective boxes
  • Assist Pastor in clerical areas/worship bulletin needs; Create Annual Report and assist ministry leaders with reports for FB Synod; Assist Treasurer with financial records and statements.

 Organization

  • Organize, update and maintain files; update records such as: baptisms, weddings, funeral and other.
  • Update and maintain office calendar of events and space use.
  • Keep an inventory of needed office supplies; communicate with treasurer for needed items

Volunteer Coordination

  • Work with volunteers for completion of projects as guided by pastor; Encourage and empower volunteers to use their gifts.

 Staff Meetings

  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings

 Other Tasks, as Assigned

  • Special needs may occur such as:   conference reservations, compiling information/maps
  • Seasonal clerical needs for Advent, Lent, Christmas.

Good communication skills and a positive attitude is important. 

The ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner is necessary.
