Welcome to the Florida-Bahamas Global Mission Travel Application and Orientation Process site. We recently changed the term used for Global Mission Travel to “Immersion Journey” – reflecting baptismal language and the totality of the mission trip experience of being “immersed” in a new culture and returning home a new person.
On this page you will find the Immersion Journey Application and Health Information forms that need to be completed and sent to the Immersion Journey Leader for your participation on the trip. You will also need to complete the Covenant/Release of Claim Form and send that, along with your application, to the Immersion Journey Leader. These forms should be completed 3-6 months prior to the date of travel.
We encourage you to read “Mission Trip Thoughts” by Dr. Ken Vermillion. Your Immersion Journey Leader may have other suggested reading materials to help prepare you for your experience, along with the Orientation sessions that will be conducted by phone conference. Another excellent resource for either the first-time traveler or experienced mission tripper is “Welcome Forward”, available through the ELCA Global Mission website.
Please feel free to address any questions to your Immersion Journey Leader or the Chair of the FB Synod Global Mission Committee, Rev. Kathryn Carroll (“Katie”) Chair, Global Mission Table at firstname.lastname@example.org or 305.505.1656.
