Singer, songwriter, and worship leader Stan Wilkerson is perhaps best known as the internationally acclaimed trombonist, who is as comfortable performing a Mahler symphony as he is an Ellington jazz suite. He has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Yo-Yo Ma, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, and Natalie Cole. However, it is his work as a singer and songwriter that has been recently gaining notoriety. His new single, “Unstoppable,” has been described as “a universal anthem for the church.”
Stan has made many recordings over the years as both leader and sideman, including recordings with Wynton Marsalis, Stephen Sondheim, Dave Brubeck, and Richard Smallwood. So, when he revealed that this was his most anticipated release to date, we took note. With his use of extended rhythm section, live horns, string orchestra, and choir, he has created an epic musical celebration of the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the joy of being part of Christ’s “Unstoppable” church. This upbeat and inspirational record was produced by Los Angeles producer/trumpeter, Dontae Winslow, (Justin Timberlake, Queen Latifah, Lady Antebellum) who also produced two tracks on Stan’s 2012 album, “Speak To My Soul.”
Inspired by a biblical study through the book of Acts, Stan recalls wanting to create a feeling of unity among all listeners. As the song builds in instrumentation and intensity, he imagines an ever-increasing number of worshipers being added to a massive choir of past, present, and future worshipers, all celebrating and recognizing the power of the united church of Jesus to literally change the world.
“Unstoppable” will be released August 1, 2017 on iTunes, Amazon, Google, and all your favorite online stores. Proceeds from the sale of “Unstoppable” will benefit Community Cupboard, a ministry of Calvary Lutheran Church in Apollo Beach, FL.

Stan is a native of Savannah, GA. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from Florida State University, and a Master of Music degree from Peabody Conservatory. In addition to his recording and performance schedule, Stan continues to freelance as a trombonist, and serves as Worship Leader and Music Director at Calvary Lutheran Church in Apollo Beach, FL, where he lives with his wife and daughters.
