The ELCA is a valuable member communion of Church World Service (CWS). Currently we are looking to hire a CWS Ambassador to help with a few CROP Hunger Walks in west central Florida– ending hunger locally and globally. The job description is below. This would be a great opportunity for a recently retired person, a young professional looking to build their skill set or a stay-at-home parent with school age children.
Regional Ambassador, Florida
Part-time, contract position
Church World Service’s Regional Ambassador will operate on a part-time, contracted basis (an estimated average of 3-4 hrs/week) from August 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018, with opportunity for renewal. Based in the Central West Florida area and operating remotely, the position is responsible for sustainable maintenance/growth of selected CROP Hunger Walks in Florida. The Regional Ambassador provides strategic support to volunteers, including provision of training, communication within the community, facilitation of communication with CWS, and linking volunteers to a network of support in the community. The position’s responsibilities include public speaking on behalf of CWS at team meetings and walk gatherings. The position will be supported and supervised by a CWS Senior Community Engagement Specialist based in Georgia.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Walk support
- Facilitate strategic communication, face-to-face meetings, and volunteer/congregational outreach plans with coordinators for the following FL walks. In addition, the position will help with emailed communication (sending out save the dates, results, etc.) material orders, website updates, press releases and Facebook promotion as needed. These walks are projected to bring in an estimated $139,000 through fundraising:
- Sarasota March 2018 – $25,000
- Venice February 2018 – $50,000
- Facilitate strategic communication, face-to-face meetings, and volunteer/congregational outreach plans with coordinators for the following FL walks. In addition, the position will help with emailed communication (sending out save the dates, results, etc.) material orders, website updates, press releases and Facebook promotion as needed. These walks are projected to bring in an estimated $139,000 through fundraising:
- Pinellas County February 2018 – $22,000
- Lakeland February 2018 – $22,000
- Manatee County February 2018 – $20,000
- Operational tasks
- Training
- Outreach orientated data cultivation (obtaining church email addresses, etc.)
- Communication with CWS staff
Desired Qualifications:
- A university or college degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Mid-level Excel skills
- Familiarity with CWS brand and programs
- A minimum of three years relevant work or volunteer experience
- Excellent administration and good communication skills
- High concern for accuracy and attention to detail
- Capacity for analyzing and summarizing information
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to manage a busy workload and respect deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to travel when needed
