Hello and welcome to this Florida-Bahamas Synod update! Thank you for joining me today for these special messages.
First, I’d like to celebrate another successful Youth Check-In! Youth from around our synod joined me and our synod staff for a special Let’s Talk event on Sunday, December 6th. Here’s a clip from the event…
To see the video, please watch the synod update.
Thank you to all the youth who joined us, and for the youth ministry leaders who plan and coordinate these wonderful events!
Next, I’d like to invite you to join a very special prayer initiative. Our Global Mission Table has partnered with our companion synods and the Seminary in Jamaica for 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence. Last week, the head of our Global Mission Table, Rev. Katie Carroll, joined our partners in Suriname for a special message…

As we prepare for a new year in just a few short weeks, I know many folks have questions about our 2021 Synod Assembly. I have missed being able to gather with you all, and I know you miss it, too.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still presenting an obstacle, our Synod Council is exploring and discerning the best possible ways to hold our next Synod Assembly safely and efficiently. We have decided not to gather in person in the summer of 2021, but rather to wait until later in the year, with the possibility of being able to gather in person then. As soon as a decision is made, we will inform everyone. Until then, please keep your Synod Council in prayer during their discernment.
And finally, I want to let you know about an upcoming Service of the Word being planned by our synod office. We know that our Rostered Ministers are looking forward to some respite after this difficult year. So, we have decided to produce and record for you a special Service featuring me and my staff, to be shared in your congregations on December 27th.
All Rostered Ministers will receive a private link to this service via email on December 22nd. You will be able to view and download the video to use on December 27th, so you can hopefully enjoy a day of respite after the holidays.
If you do not receive the video link on December 22nd, please email our Communications Specialist Marina directly at marinae@fbsynod.org, and she will make sure you receive it.
Please continue to send us stories of Faith in Action in our synod we can share them through our Website and social platforms to encourage each other of what God is up to in our synod. You can send the stories to Marina as well.
Till next time God bless you and be safe!
