Venice, FL – Village On The Isle, a continuing care retirement community serving over 425 residents on its 16-acre campus, recently completed an $18.5 Million renovation of a five-story, 80,000 Square-Feet Assisted Living & Memory Care building, called The Lofts at Village On The Isle. As part of the renovation, they replaced a 1.5-Ton generator with a new one that was 3 1/2 times larger to ensure 100% emergency power of the entire building. After completing this update, Village On The Isle donated the former generator to another faith-based, not-for-profit organization, known as Luther Springs, in Hawthorne, Florida.

Luther Springs is a 350-acre camp affiliated with the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America that hosts programs for youth and adults throughout the year. In 2018, the camp lost power three times, resulting in over $7,000 in losses of food supplies. Rev. Don Hillerich, Chaplain and Advancement Officer for Village On The Isle, worked with Rev. Dr. Jan Setzler, Senior Development Officer for Luther Springs, for several months to plan the transfer of the 1.5-ton generator.

In addition, Village On The Isle donated $5,000 to Luther Springs to help install the generator. The plan is to convert its fuel source to propane and use the generator as emergency back-up power for Luther Springs’ kitchen, offices, and fellowship hall.
