YOU are PART of God’s PLAN
God’s Word, Our Voice!
“God’s work. Our hands”
You have read stories from long ago of The Feeding Of The 5,000 with just a couple of fish and a few loaves of bread. We want to share with you what “Our Hands” are doing together in a little town called Lehigh Acres, FL.
Last year, our area was hard hit by Hurricane Irma. Faith Lutheran / Comunidad de Fe opened our doors and our hands to receive and share God’s abundance with our community. Over the next two months, God provided miraculous amounts of water, ice, cooked and uncooked food, personal hygiene products and house cleaning supplies. But The Feeding Of The 5,000 did not stop there; God opened a year-round Food Pantry, where people have come to continue being fed by God’s love. Individuals and families are invited to shop for whatever supplies they need, choosing from a wide variety of food items, pet supplies, toiletries and household goods.
This year, God told us that we needed to remind our communities that God’s Love is still strong, that God still has The Word for everyone, and that God wants us to be Love’s voice for our neighbors! This calling brought over ten community agencies (Home Depot, MidWest Food bank, Publix, Adult day Care, El Tarasco Mexican Restaurant, Thrivent, 3 Local dentists, to mention a few) and 3 ELCA congregations (Messiah LC, Christ LC, Gateway TLC) together to provide 350 baskets full of food, household articles and personal supplies to those who are still in need as part of our “God’s Work, Our Hands” 2018 Service Project.
We are sharing this news with you to invite you to pray and ask God, “What is next for this little corner of the world?!”
Society has labeled some of God’s children as “homeless”, but many live in their cars or tents. They cannot take a shower before they go to work or school, or clean their clothes to assist them in potentially finding work. Join us in prayers that we might build showers and a laundry area, where those who need to wash themselves or their clothes can gather. Pray with us that God might provide a food truck, so we can continue The Feeding Of The 5,000 for these people in Lehigh Acres (where there is not even a shelter).
