How do I respond? You can find a response form in the back of the printed copy of the draft, also located online at bit.ly/womenandjusticedraft. General email comments can be sent here. You can also attend a hearing to respond verbally to a representative of the task force. Responses that reference line numbers from the draft itself will help the task force quickly identify your area of affirmation or concern.
What is the timeframe? The task force will read and analyze all responses submitted by Sept. 30, 2018.
What happens next? Members of the task force will review each response and consider what they have heard when they begin to prepare the “Proposed Social Statement” in the fall of 2018. The proposed social statement will go to the ELCA Church Council in the spring of 2019. A recommended proposed statement will be considered by the 2019 ELCA Churchwide Assembly. A two thirds vote is required for approval.
