Respite in the Wilderness Retreat (Luther Springs)

April 30 - May 2

April 30 – May 2, 2019 (Tuesday-Thursday)

NovusWay Ministries would like to say thank you to all rostered ministers for all that you do. Guests are only charged for the cost of food. $100

Luther Springs and NovusWay Ministries wants to say thank you to all our Rostered Ministers and Church Professionals for all that you do. Come, take a deep breath, and enjoy a time of rest and renewal as we close out the busy season of Lent and celebrate the beginning of the season of Easter. Jim LaDoux from Vibrant Faith Ministries will be with us to discuss Leading Well. Our Assistants to the Bishop and DEMs, Pastor Rob Carlson and Pastor Khader EL-Yateem, will be with us to lead worship and be available for conversation. Spouses are welcome.
Feel free to arrive anytime on Tuesday after lunch, during which time you can rest in your room, walk to the lake, explore the property or relax on the back porch with a friend or a book. Our event will begin with dinner at 6:00 PM, followed by our opening session. Wednesday will begin with Morning Prayer and move into sessions on Leading Well after breakfast. After lunch is your time. Want to play? We will have a variety of activities available, including but not limited to: canoeing, archery, swimming or walking the trails. Want to rest? Enjoy the beautiful weather while rocking on the porch, take a nap or spend some time in solitude at the Stations of the Cross or walking the Prayer Labyrinth. Our day will conclude with another session and a Service of Healing. Thursday we will wrap up, worship and enjoy a famous Luther Springs brunch, departing at 11:30.
What will our sessions look like?
Session 1 | Developing Agile Leaders
The skills required for today’s leader are significantly different the the ones needed a generation ago. This session will highlight the eight essential leadership practices needed to be an agile leader and to develop leaders who are willing to act, inspect, improve and innovate.
Session 2 | Developing Agile Teams
Agile teams are known for being laser focused on purpose and priorities. They draw out the strengths and contributions of each team member. They set and celebrate short-term wins. They’re willing to build on what’s working while also experimenting with new approaches and practices for being church together. This sessions will focus on how to build and sustain high performing teams.
Session 3 | Developing Agile Congregations
Thriving congregations are Spirit-driven, mission-minded and results-oriented. They pay attention to and celebrate how lives are being changed and what God is up to in the process. This session will address ways that churches may be more intentional, impactful and experimental in their approach to ministry.
Deacon Conversation
At the Conference on Ministry, rostered deacons gathered for discussion and committed to finding time to continue to build connection, community and vision for deacons in the synod. There will be time for deacons to gather for brief but focused discussion about next steps.
Spouses welcome!
